Abstract
In recent years remote work has transformed from a niche alternative into a popular work style, that is being adopted by companies worldwide. This rapid transformation, partly driven by the COVID-19 epidemic, compelled firms to rethink and reinvent traditional labor patterns. As businesses responded to this new reality, issues regarding the ramifications for employee engagement and productivity became top priorities for business leaders, researchers, and HR experts alike.Employee engagement, a key component of workplace performance, refers to an individual's emotional commitment and motivation to achieve corporate goals. Simultaneously, productivity remains an important indicator of an employee's efficiency and effectiveness in contributing to company success. The switch to remote employment, however, presents both opportunities and challenges. On the one side, remote work allows employees more freedom, shorter commuting times, and the possibility of improving work-life balance. On the other hand, it raises concerns about isolation, communication hurdles, and the potential deterioration of corporate culture. This dissertation investigates the complex relationship between remote working, employee engagement, and productivity. It explores how remote work has altered employees' sense of connection to their firms, as well as whether this model can sustain or improve productivity over time. By investigating these factors, this study hopes to contribute to a greater knowledge of the shifting dynamics within the modern workplace and offer insights for firms wanting to optimize their remote work methods for optimum engagement and productivity.
