Abstract
The importance of the progress of green bonds in climate finance and sustainable development in India is examined in this dissertation, with an emphasis on the renewable energy industry. Due to several market, financial, and regulatory obstacles, green bonds have not yet reached their full potential in India, despite having become a viable financial instrument for the purpose of increasing funds for green projects. The report examines at the current state of green bond issuances in India, highlighting the key participants, sectoral areas of interest, and how these bonds affect the expansion of renewable energy. A thorough analysis identifies the main obstacles to adoption, such as high issuance costs, intricate regulatory procedures, and currency risk for international investors. The paper also discusses the current discrepancies in green finance between Indian practices and global standards.
